Airbag

An airbag vest mainly protects the thorax, abdomen, back, cervical vertebrae, coccyx and vital organs. It inflates in the event of a fall to absorb shocks and reduce the risk of serious injuries, such as fractures and internal trauma. It is a true technological innovation, offering maximum safety in case of a fall.

No, all airbag vests are designed to be as light and ergonomic as possible. They do not restrict the rider's movements when they are deflated. In the event of a fall, the airbag inflates rapidly, but after deployment, it may temporarily limit movement to protect the body during the impact.

We recommend storing it on a hanger away from moisture. Storing it on a hanger helps protect the membrane by limiting the risk of folding or cracking. Avoid storing it in a ball in your tack room, or exposing it to high temperatures (radiators, cars in direct sunlight, etc.). 

Airbags are not compulsory for horse riding, but they are highly recommended to improve rider safety in the event of a fall. 

The saddle strap is fastened to either side of the saddle through the two stirrup leathers. This way, there's a perfect balance of release in the event of a fall, whether to the left or right of the horse. The buckle attaches to the connecting strap, which in turn connects to the airbag. 

After deployment, your vest's membrane is inflated and the cartridge is emptied of its CO2. To reset, unscrew the old cartridge, expel all the air from the membrane, connect the trigger ball using the key supplied, then screw in a new cartridge. The exact re-priming procedure differs depending on the airbag model. It is important to follow the instructions given in the user manual supplied with the vest. If necessary, you can always contact us. 

It depends on the model : Hit Air, Spark, Equiline Child and Equiline Oxair airbags can only be worn over clothing. For airbag jackets, if you wish to wear a jacket, blouson or coat over your clothing, you must choose a compatible garment.

If you're traveling by air, you can of course take your airbag and 3-4 cartridges with you in your checked baggage, making sure they are separate from the airbag vest. However, you need to notify the airline in advance, to obtain their authorization.

You may be asked to produce a safety card, in which case please contact us. We can provide you with this document for presentation to the airline beforehand. 

The airbag must never be immersed in water, put in the washing machine or tumble dryer, or even ironed. This could damage the metal components as well as the inner membrane, and alter the effectiveness of the vest. In the event of stains, we recommend cleaning the vest gently with a soft, damp brush, or using a sponge with a little soapy water. Leave to dry in the open air, preferably on a hanger.
