Body protector and back protection

The body protector provides protection for the torso and back in the event of a fall or impact. It protects the kidneys, rib cage and abdominal organs. Often thicker than the back protection the body protector is made up of several layers of foam that help to absorb shocks. Because of the relative rigidity of the waistcoat, it helps the rider to stand upright on the horse. It can be worn over a tee shirt, polo shirt or jumper and under a coat in winter.

It generally consists of a layer of foam, which softens on contact with the rider's body heat, to free up movement and provide the rider with the greatest possible comfort. Relatively thin, the back protection is worn close to the body and is easily placed under the rider's clothing. They can be used in all equestrian disciplines, with the exception of marathon driving, eventing and trekking.
