Helmet should fit snugly around his head, but not too tightly. If he feels painful pressure points, the helmet is probably too small. Shake his head slightly back and forth and from left to right. The helmet should not move significantly, otherwise it's too big.

To find out what size helmet to get, measure your child's head size. To do this, use a flexible tape measure and place it around your head, about 1 to 2 cm above his eyebrows and just above his ears. Make sure the tape measure is straight and resting on the widest part of your head.

As soon as your helmet suffers an impact, it loses its protective capacity. The shell can be weakened by micro-cracks invisible to the naked eye, and is no longer able to absorb and diffuse new shocks. You should therefore change your helmet after every fall from a horse, but also in the event of minor everyday knocks (helmet dropped on the ground or put down roughly).

Children's helmets are generally designed with an adjuster wheel on the back. This allows you to adjust the helmet size according to your child's head size. So, as your child's head grows, you can loosen the adjuster wheel.
