Airbag Freejump

A Freejump airbag vest designed for safety in the saddle

The Freejump airbag vest shields a rider’s vital areas in a fall: the neck, spine, back, chest, pelvis and sacrum. Each model uses a fast-acting gas cartridge system that inflates fully in under 0.1 seconds. The X’air Safe, for example, paired with a hard shell, triggers in just 0.080 seconds and is certified to NF S72-800-2022.

All vests meet European certification standards, which means they’re tested and validated across a range of fall and impact scenarios. The airbag is therefore an approved safety device, designed to protect riders in equestrian sport — from leisure riding to competition.

Which Freejump airbag models does Vestride stock?

The Freejump range includes several models to suit every rider’s needs:

• Airbag Technology: a lightweight, high-performance vest that pairs with compatible riding jackets.
• Airbag Technology Crystal: the same technical build, finished with subtle crystals at the front for a distinctive look.
• X’air Safe: combines a hard shell with an integrated airbag, delivering up to eight times better shock absorption than a cross-country body protector alone.

Each product is offered in a wide size range (XXS to XL), from junior to adult. Ergonomic cuts and standard and long fits adapt to different body shapes for a secure, comfortable fit that lasts through long days at shows or training.

Proven, certified airbag technology

Developed over many years in France, the Freejump airbag was the first to gain certification under NF S72-800. Independent testing by CRITT confirms the system’s impact performance, material quality and reliable inflation.

• Inflation times controlled at 0.080 or 0.098 seconds depending on model
• Gas cartridges sized to each vest (16g to 33g)
• Protection for vital areas: neck, spine, chest, lower back and sacrum
• High-performance textiles: Cordura, 3D mesh, double-density foams

Made in France with premium comfort

Every Freejump airbag vest is manufactured in France to the highest safety standards. Thoughtful ergonomics, lightweight materials and careful tailoring deliver comfortable wear, even during long competition days or intense training. 3D mesh ensures excellent ventilation while Cordura panels increase abrasion resistance, letting the rider keep full freedom of movement without compromising protection.

Jackets compatible with Freejump airbags

Freejump airbag vests can be worn over light clothing or under a compatible riding jacket. Compatibility is essential for the airbag to inflate fully and without obstruction. Vestride offers several compatible jackets designed specifically to work with the inflation system and to sit comfortably with a body protector when required.

Cartridges, accessories and maintenance

Gas cartridges are specific to each vest and size. It’s vital to use the correct cartridge volume to ensure maximum protection in a fall. A spent cartridge must be replaced immediately. The system uses a gas generator connected to a trigger bead via a lanyard attached to the saddle with a dedicated strap.

For cleaning, Freejump recommends Hey Airbag Cleaner foam, tested by the brand’s laboratory. It cleans the vest fabric without damaging technical materials.
